GYALWANG KARMAPA RETURNS TO GYUTO

September 24, 2009 - Dharamsala His Holiness Karmapa has returned to Gyuto, after successfully completing the Delhi leg of his tour. His Holiness has reached Dharamsala via road from Delhi and will resume his daily activities in Gyuto.

Meanwhile, the Karmapa Lama, Trinley Dorje, the only senior Buddhist leader recognized by Beijing, the Tibetans and India, picks his way through the diplomatic minefield. On a visit to Delhi from Dharamsala, the 24-year-old leader of one of the major schools of Tibetan Buddhism talks politics, hip-hop and video games withRashmee Roshan Lall. Excerpts from the interview.



Is India being diplomatic enough to and about China and and vice versa?



Obviously I can't speak from the perspective of a politician who is active in these communications. Obviously the government of each country has its own interests in the ongoing conversation. They are doing what they can to advance their own interests. I'm not able to comment on what those interests might be. But if I were to make some observations and guesses…

GYALWANG KARMAPA TEACHES ON PEACE AT THE AMERICAN EMBASSY SCHOOL

September 18, 2009 - Delhi, India Today His Holiness paid a day-long visit to the students, faculty, and administrators of the American Embassy School in Delhi, India as part of the school’s “Peace Day” celebrations. In the main assembly hall, His Holiness gave a talk and a guided meditation on bringing peace to the world and witnessed several song and performance offerings by the students. His Holiness also conducted multiple question and answer sessions with students of all of the school’s grade levels and gave a stirring talk on the conditions for internal peace to an audience of high school-level students and adults in the school’s auditorium.

GYALWANG KARMAPA VISITS GURUMAA ASHRAM

September 17, 2009 - Sonepat, India (Haryana State) Today His Holiness Karmapa visited Gurumaa Ashram, the spiritual practice center guided by Anandmurti Gurumaa, one of the most prominent living Indian spiritual teachers. His Holiness was greeted with an elaborate welcoming ceremony on the beautiful, sprawling land of the ashram. Both Gurumaa and His Holiness made remarks about the essence of spiritual practice before a large assembly of Gurumaa’s followers.

Earlier in July 2008 Gurumaa visited His Holiness at Gyuto, Dharamsala.

GYALWANG KARMAPA MEETS WITH FIVE-MEMBER DELEGATION OF THE FRENCH PARLIAMENT

September 1, 2009 - Gyuto A five-member delegation of the French Parliament called upon on His Holiness Karmapa, at his Gyuto residence, during their visit to Dharmasala.

Mr. Jean Francois Humbert, senator from Franche Comte province in Eastern France, headed the delegation from the French Senate (sénat) or the upper house of the French Parliament.
The other members are Mr. Jean Pierre Plancade, senator, Socialist group and member of the Tibet Information Group; Mr. Thierry Repentin, senator, Socialist Party and member of the Tibet Information Group; and Mrs. Jacquelin Panis, senator, ruling UMP (Union for a Popular Movement) and member of the Tibet Information Group. Mr Philippe Brault, administrator of the Senate and Mr. Wangpo Bashi, secretary of the Tibet Bureau in Paris, accompanied the delegation.
